Idiom of the Day: “Cracks Up”
Meaning:
To suddenly laugh a lot, or to make someone else laugh a lot.
It usually happens when something is really funny—unexpectedly!
In Korean, a similar casual phrase would be:
빵 터지다 or 배꼽 잡고 웃다
(when someone bursts out laughing or laughs uncontrollably).
Example:
Every time Lisa tells that ridiculous story about her cat riding a Roomba, I just crack up.
리사가 고양이가 로봇청소기를 타고 돌아다닌 얘기를 할 때마다 나는 정말 빵 터진다.
Bonus Tip:
You can also say:
- “He cracks me up” – 그는 날 너무 웃기게 해
- “She just cracked up!” – 그녀가 갑자기 빵 터졌어!
