Lipodystrophy (English)

Lipodystrophy is a condition where the body has abnormal loss of fat (lipoatrophy) or abnormal accumulation of fat (lipohypertrophy).
It commonly occurs in people who use insulin or certain HIV medications.

Types

1. Lipoatrophy – loss of fat tissue
2. Lipohypertrophy – fatty lumps from repeated injections

Causes

• Repeated insulin injections without site rotation
• HIV antiretroviral medications (older ones)
• Genetic or autoimmune causes

Symptoms

• Lumps or dents under the skin
• Uneven fat distribution
• Poor insulin absorption → unpredictable blood glucose

Nursing Interventions

• Teach and ensure injection site rotation
• Avoid injecting into affected areas
• Monitor glucose closely

지방이상증 (Lipodystrophy, 한국어)

지방이상증은 신체에서 지방이 비정상적으로 감소(지방위축) 하거나
지방이 비정상적으로 축적(지방비대) 되는 상태입니다.
주로 인슐린 주사 또는 일부 HIV 약물 사용 환자에게서 나타납니다.

종류

1. 지방위축 (Lipoatrophy) – 지방이 빠지는 현상
2. 지방비대 (Lipohypertrophy) – 반복 주사로 지방이 덩어리처럼 쌓임

원인

• 인슐린 주사 부위를 계속 반복해서 맞는 경우
• 오래된 항레트로바이러스제(HIV 약물)
• 유전적 또는 자가면역 요인

증상

• 피부 밑에 덩어리 또는 움푹 파인 부분
• 신체 지방 분포의 불균형
• 인슐린 흡수 저하 → 혈당 불안정

간호중재

• 주사 부위 회전(rotate sites) 교육
• 지방이상증 부위에는 주사 금지
• 혈당 모니터링 강화
• 올바른 주사 기술 및 바늘 사용 교육
